Highlands, Scotland

You can’t mistake an oystercatcher.  The oystercatcher is very noisy with a loud ‘peep-ing’ call.  They can be found on the coast and lochs all over the Highlands, they specialise in eating shellfish, particularly cockles and mussels, which they either prise or hammer open with their strong, flattened bills.  They are such characters!
